2020 Newsletter: January-March

March 31, 2020

IPO and IPO Education Foundation have taken prudent steps to ensure that services for our members and donors will continue uninterrupted amid social distancing measures being implemented across the country to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Activities such as the IP Patch event and USA Science and Engineering Festival have been postponed. We will keep you updated as activities are rescheduled.

20TH ANNIVERSARY
This year marks the 20th anniversary of IPO Education Foundation! For the past 20 years, IPOEF has conducted various programs to educate the public on the role intellectual property rights play in fostering innovation and economic growth.
Follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as we reflect all year on the past, present, and future!
VIRTUAL GUEST LECTURE SERIES
Yeen Tham and Bryan Bortnick (IBM Corp.) will be leading a webinar lecture for Cornell Tech April 16 about IP in the software industry. IPOEF is broadening its reach about the importance of intellectual property protection by asking volunteers to speak about the value of IP to the success of business to university students that might not otherwise receive education about intellectual property.
Interested in learning more about the Guest Lecture Series, contact Kristen Lurye, klurye@ipo.org or 202.507.4500.
HOST AN IP PATCH EVENT BY WEBINAR
IPOEF offers an IP Patch toolkit including curriculum and sample presentations to guide you through how to host your own IP Patch event at your office, in your community, or via webinar! Customize the curriculum for your group and teach about IP from your home. Contact Foundation@ipo.org for tips or to share pictures from your virtual event.
STROKE OF GENIUS™ SEASON THREE
Season Three of the Stroke of Genius™ podcast, set to launch in May 2020, will explore the fascinating stories from the world of intellectual property one episode at a time. IPO Education Foundation expands its lens this season by exploring how the IP system supports not only patents but also trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
AWARDS DINNER
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of IPO Education Foundation at the 13th annual Awards Dinner. The event will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. Annually the Awards Dinner brings together around 500 members of the IP community to recognize outstanding achievements in the fields of innovation, creativity, and IP rights. Purchase your table or tickets today! 2020 honorees to be announced.
